I don't come often as they are out of the way, but i really enjoy this restaurant. When I lived in the area, it was one of my go to Mexican food places. The food feels pretty authentic to that I would get when visiting Mexico. It makes you feel like there is some Abuelita or Abuelo in the back making fresh tortillas and old family recipes. One of my favorite meals is the chorizo and eggs or chorizo burrito. As a heads up, if you ask for potatoes, it is like they put an entire potato chopped up into the burrito. Personally, I don't like that, but others may. I highly recommend trying if you have never been.
I was so excited to learn that there was a Carolina's by my dads! I was visiting family and picked up to go to enjoy lunch with them. Nicely located in Peoria, with ample parking, walking into the restaurant I noticed it airy and clean presence. I was greeted right away. With a little bit of assistance from the employee I chose a grilled chicken taco salad, beef taco salad, green enchiladas and a red beef burro mixed with beans. Of course I also treated myself to 6 tortillas! The taco salads were a success! The tortilla bowl was perfectly crisp and the meats nicely seasoned. The burro was nice and juicy and the enchiladas were cheesey and just the right spice. It didn't take long for me to dig into the tortillas. Just as I remembered, perfection nicely heated with a little bit of butter. I love the franchise, Carolina's. Simple and tasty! Prices are excellent, too.
Well, of course you have to love their tortillas, lunch was very tasty. They never fall short on taste however, my only complaint was they were skimpy on the cheese and my cheese enchilada. Other than that, the food was great. The ambience is good very family oriented and family friendly. It's a great place to go for dinner, for lunch, or after church for that quick meal. Presentation is always done. Well you can't go wrong when you come here for me. Thanks again for being open.
